What is “Full-Service” Vending?
Full-service vending is a turnkey program where a vending provider installs, stocks, maintains, and services machines at your location. You get modern equipment, a curated product mix, and cashless payments without purchasing machines or handling day-to-day operations. In most cases, there’s no upfront cost—your provider earns revenue from product sales and may share a commission with you.
Who it’s best for: offices, warehouses, apartment communities, hotels, schools, gyms, healthcare, and multi-tenant buildings that want reliable snacks and drinks without managing inventory, repairs, or refunds.
What’s Included (and What’s Not)
1) Site Survey & Machine Selection
- Walkthrough & power check: Confirm space, traffic flow, and power requirements (typically a dedicated 110–120V outlet per machine).
- Right-fit equipment: Snack, beverage, or combo machines; refrigerated or frozen if you want fresh food or ice cream
2) Installation & Setup
- Delivery & placement: We will deliver, level, and secure machines where foot traffic is highest.
- Cashless payments: Card, tap-to-pay, and mobile wallets enabled from day one.
- Branding & planograms: Initial product planogram is set based on your audience (energy drinks for warehouses, better-for-you in offices, etc.).
3) Ongoing Restocking & Merchandising
- Route frequency: Weekly or bi-weekly service for most locations; higher-traffic sites see more frequent visits.
- Data-driven inventory: Telemetry and remote monitoring flag low SKUs and slow sellers.
- Seasonal and trending items: Limited-time flavors, high-protein snacks, and cold brew in summer to drive interest.
4) Maintenance & Service Calls
- Proactive alerts: Smart machines send error codes and temperature alerts.
- Repairs & parts: Covered by the provider in full-service agreements.
- Refund handling: Tap-to-refund or simple QR flow reduces admin time for your team.
5) Reporting & Commissions
- Sales reports: Monthly breakdowns by machine and SKU.
- Commission options: Percentage of sales or tiered models. Some locations choose no commission in exchange for lower prices to employees.
Typically not included: Utility costs (minor), major electrical work, custom cabinetry/build-outs, or guaranteed sales volumes unless specified in the contract.
How Pricing Works
At Smoky Mountain Vending, full-service vending is always FREE to the location. We cover equipment, install, restocking, and maintenance. Prices on products are set to cover wholesale cost, service labor, card fees, machine depreciation, and your revenue share (if any). Expect:
- Snack vend price: usually $1.50–$5.50 depending on brand and size
- Bottled/canned drinks: typically $2.00–$4.50
Contract Terms to Understand
- Agreement length: 12–36 months is standard; longer terms can unlock newer equipment.
- Exclusivity: Most providers require exclusivity for snack/drink vending within the building.
- Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Response time for outages (e.g., within 24–48 hours), refill cadence, and refund policy.
- Early termination: Look for clear performance clauses (missed service windows, repeated outages) that allow termination.
Product Mix That Sells
Match your mix to your people. Ask for a starter planogram like:
- Core sellers (40%): national chips, chocolates, sodas, water, sports drinks
- Better-for-you (30%): protein bars, baked chips, sparkling water, nuts, jerky
- Premium & seasonal (20%): cold brew, energy drinks, limited flavors
- Local favorites (10%): regional snacks or beverages that boost satisfaction
Review sales monthly and rotate out bottom-10% SKUs. Keep proven winners in prime slots (eye level, left-to-right flow).
Cashless & Telemetry: Why It Matters
- Higher sales: Card/tap often lifts revenue 15–30% vs. cash-only.
- Fewer outages: Remote alerts catch jams, bill validator issues, and low product before they hurt sales.
- Cleaner books: Digital reporting simplifies audits and commission payouts.
Healthy & Compliance Considerations
If you serve schools, healthcare, or wellness-focused offices, request compliant options: low-sugar beverages, whole-grain snacks, and clear nutrition labeling. Use shelf tags (“<200 calories,” “20g+ protein”) to guide choices.
Placement Best Practices
- High visibility: Breakrooms, lobbies, elevator banks, near traffic paths—not hidden corners.
- Power & clearance: Dedicated outlet, 3–6 inches of rear/side clearance, level floor.
- Safety & access: ADA reach ranges, clear approach space, and camera coverage for loss prevention.
